Hyperdance

FAQs

How many people are in the class?

Hyperdance classes have up to 20 students, however classes are never overloaded as we pride ourselves on giving individual attention to students if needed. Our studio at Level 2, 167 Gouger St (next door to Genki Sushi) can comfortably handle our class sizes.

What clothing do I wear?

Anything comfortable that you can stretch and move around in, such as a tracksuit or active wear. It is advisable to wear your hair back and no dangly earrings or jewellery is permitted.

What shoes do I wear?

For Jazz, Combo and Hip Hop classes, sneakers without too much grip are recommended.

For Contemporary classes, bare feet, ballet shoes or socks.

For Heels classes, heels which are low-medium height with a fairly wide heel are recommended. A shoe with a strap or an ankle boot is a good idea. No stillettos.

For Tap classes, tap shoes are not necessary straight away, low heeled shoes with a strap are recommended.

Are the classes for both males and females?

Yes. The choreography and movements done in the classes are suitable for both sexes.

How old are the students?

Our classes are all adult classes for age 16 and over.

What happens after I finish the first term?

Our classes are designed to progress throughout the year and students generally stay in the same level for a minimum of one year. However, students may be invited to move up a level at the discretion of the teacher. New students can also join a class at any time of the year, up until Term 3 when we start Showcase choreography.

Testimonials

Hyperdance is an amazing school! After an 8 year break from dancing I had lost all my confidence. Christina made me feel welcome and I’ve made lifelong friendships. I have loved the last 4 years and 6 showcase performances. I’m so glad I decided to start dancing again, and I’m looking forward to another exciting year with Hyperdance!

Hyperdance was my first dance class experience of any kind. Going into my first lessons I was really nervous, but as I’ve progressed I’ve gained a lot of confidence and met a lot of students and teachers who I now call friends! I’ve had a taste of just about every dance style on offer in the last 8 years, and every teacher at Hyperdance has been great at creating exciting routines, matching difficulty to your skill level and making everyone laugh.

When I came to Hyperdance I had been in Adelaide for a year and a half. I didn’t feel very settled, and had plans to move back to Sydney. Two years on and I am still here with a wonderful supportive new family, and a beautiful new lease on life! The culture at Hyperdance is one of inclusion, teamwork, and unity; you could not ask for a better group of people. Christina has always been so encouraging and continues to challenge me to be the best dancer I can be. After so many years, I can finally say I have found a place to call home.
