Sophie’s love of dance from a young age grew into a passion that she continued to explore. Sophie took an unconventional leap after finishing school to study dance full time at Gravity Dance, as well as begin her degree in Secondary Education at Flinders University. Training in Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz, Tap and Hip Hop led to the beginning of many treasured performance opportunities. Highlights include tapping in the 2016 Fringe Parade, performing at the Australian Dance Festival in Sydney and joining the jazz and tap ensemble for ‘The Long and Short of It’ led by Rachel Beck and Rhonda Burchmore, produced by Ding Productions.
Sophie continued to perform in local Adelaide gigs, as well as grow her passion for teaching and choreographing, educating students in both dance studios and secondary schools. Most recently in 2019, Sophie put her studies on hold and travelled to New York City’s Broadway Dance Center for their three-month International Student Visa Program. Learning from the most incredible teachers in the big apple, she trained more specifically in Musical Theatre, Tap, Jazz and Contemporary. The experience provided Sophie with new teaching and performance opportunities, and upon returning home is eager to continue to pass on her knowledge and love for dance!
