Hyperdance Teacher - David

I started dancing at the age of 13 at Charles Campbell Secondary school, where I was involved in the dance program for five years. I completed SAS Dance in year twelve, which has four key components of Choreography, Performance, Technique and Theory. Throughout my five years in the Charles Campbell dance program I had the opportunity to study numerous styles of dance such as Ballet, Jazz and Contemporary and was involved in numerous workshops, performances and Eisteddfods.
In 2006, I started Hip Hop classes with Pure Funk Dance School. From there, my journey in Teaching and Choreography began. I have been teaching for numerous Dance studios around Adelaide over the last three years and I am a registered dance tutor with Ausdance, which involves teaching in both Primary and Secondary schools around S.A. I have also been involved in many Dance events such as Hip-Hop competitions including “Groove”. I have performed in countless fundraisers, concerts, promotional events etc.
My hip-hop style has evolved from self-taught moves, studying various styles of dance and freestyling in clubs. My greatest influences in Dance have been from my family, (my brother Shane was in the Australian Ballet for years and is now working with the Sydney Dance Company). I also grew up watching and learning from Michael Jackson, Justin Timberlake, Usher, Tight Eyes to name a few but of course, one of my main influences is MUSIC!!! In my classes I teach a blend of styles incorporating Lyrical Hip Hop, Stepping, Krumping and Breakdance. My style is high energy – get ready to sweat!!
